FELLOWSHIPS

The Saratoga Harp Colony is ready to accept Fellowship applications for the 2012 season. Applicants must be at least 21 years of age, have completed an undergraduate degree and consider themselves a serious and committed harpist.

SHC Fellows will be required to assist in daily supervision of students both on campus as well as during any off-campus activities. SHC Fellows will be required to assist in transportation of students and harps for performances and activities. We request that you have your own "harp-friendly" automobile and harp. SHC Fellows will work directly with the faculty.

The SHC is looking for Fellows who are responsible, considerate and morally prudent. In exchange for these services, each Fellow will receive full tuition, room and board, and participation in all events for the 2012 Saratoga Harp Colony season (private lessons are not included). This season our Fellows will be featured soloists on the Gala Festival Concert at the newly inaugurated Zankel Performing Arts Center at Skidmore College.

Cara Fleck

"For the past three summers I've always looked forward to the Saratoga Harp Colony experience. Spending three weeks in Saratoga Springs with a community of other harpists as passionate about their instrument as myself, a world class faculty and ample time to practice, I knew I would return home completely prepared for the demands of my undergraduate performance program. However, the most significant impact of the Saratoga Harp Colony was something I only realized upon entering the professional world as a harpist. SHC master classes, seminars and lessons equipped me with the knowledge and discipline for learning independently, a crucial skill for self-sufficiency as a musician."

Cara Fleck, Professional Harpist, Intern for the Baltimore Symphony
